While most of the world has started to forget, the mystery of flight MH370 is something that runs through my mind most days. It will prove to be the greatest ‘who done it’ of our time, though for the families of the victims, that’s little comfort. I don’t know about you, but it gives me a really eerie feeling when I think about the 240-odd souls on board and where they are, if they’re still alive, what they’ve been through and what happened in those last moments. These are questions that we may never have answers for, though I think it’s important that we continue the search and as a community, not give up hope.
Inspiration for this post came as I read the news this morning. The first (of many I’m sure) book about the mystery of MH370 is being released this week. Is it too soon for a book to be released? Maybe. Probably for the families of those on board, but for the rest of us, I think it’s important to continue to shine a light on this mystery. The book seems to suggest a Government cover-up. I’m not sure I believe the conspiracy hype, though I do still find it strange that such an aircraft can just vanish.
I get questions about MH370 all the time, “what happened to it?”, “how does a plane just disappear in this day and age?”, etc. and I ask these questions myself. No professional has been able to explain it or give any plausible explanation to its disappearance. Putting aside all of the politics and misinformation surrounding the disappearance, I guess the part that I find the most strange is that all of the rescue efforts are focused in one area and appear to be based on a hunch. Any satellite imagery that supposedly existed was eventually quashed. Surely, based on the original flight plan, they have to allow for the possibility that it could still be in the South China Sea. To be 100% focused on the area outside Perth suggests that they either know a lot more than what has been released to the public, or the search is being misguided on purpose. I know I’m starting to sound like a ‘doomsday’ or ‘chemtrail freak’, though there is just no reasonable explanation.
I’d like to hear what everyone else is feeling about this situation. Let me know in the comments section below.
