As an avid reader of aviation magazines for so many years, recently I found myself somewhat disenchanted with the content of my favourite publication, Australian Flying. So much so that I decided to write a letter to the editor to voice my concerns. This isn’t something that I have done before, nor would I make a habit of in the future, however in this case I felt it was warranted.
You can imagine my surprise when, on opening the July/August edition, I find my letter not only published but on a full page spread and listed as ‘Editor’s Pick’. The article can be viewed here.
Initially, I thought the editor’s comments may have been an attempt to mock or derail my feedback, though in hindsight, I think I was too close and tried to read into sarcasm that simply wasn’t there.
Whilst it wasn’t initially intended to be published, I stand by my comments and I know others feel the same as I do. I hope through continued consultation with their readers, Australian Flying can continue to be the aviation magazine of choice for many years to come.
If you have feedback for Australian Flying, simply leave a comment below or contact the editor directly at email@example.com and mention this article.
